CASDA Volunteer Highlighted

Meet a Volunteer for May 11, 2014

Written and submitted by Joe A. Ervin III

This week United Way of Greater Duluth and Duluth News Tribune recognize Elyse Olson, a volunteer at the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse in Superior.

Olson started volunteering with CASDA in 2013 and serves as a childcare volunteer, helping parents by watching their kids while they attend meetings and goal-related appointments. She also teaches Sunday school at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, which she has attended since childhood.

Olson loves volunteering; her favorite part is seeing the kids. Although things can get chaotic, she loves every minute of it. CASDA is nothing new to Olson; her mom was an active volunteer and served as inspiration for Olson to also help women in need. Outside of her regular duties with CASDA, she enjoys participating in events such as CASDA walks, silent auctions and their New Year’s Eve Dance to End Abuse.
